Barcelona
Wine Week 2026
Published: 12/01/2026
Every February, Barcelona becomes an essential meeting point for the wine industry thanks to the Barcelona Wine Week (BWW). For three days, the city brings together wineries, professionals, communicators, and wine enthusiasts with a clear goal: to place Spanish wines at the center of the conversation. For us, as a wine school, this event is much more than a trade fair; it is a genuine learning opportunity.
The BWW has established itself as a key event to understand the present and, above all, the future direction of Spanish wine. In the 2026 edition, the message is clear: identity, sense of place, and sustainability. The denominations of origin will play a leading role, not only showcasing their wines but also explaining the context in which they are made, their evolution, and the challenges they face today.
For those of us dedicated to education, this type of gathering is especially valuable. Here, wine is not presented as an isolated product but as the result of agronomic, climatic, cultural, and human decisions. This is precisely the vision we try to convey every day in our classrooms.
Trends that are shaping the path
We expect that during BWW 2026, some of the trends that have been gaining momentum in the sector will be further confirmed:
-
Wines with local identity: more and more wineries are focusing on native varieties, unique vineyards, and production methods that clearly express their origin.
-
Sustainable and regenerative viticulture: it has gone from being mere talk to real practice. Discussions center around living soils, biodiversity, and climate change adaptation, supported by concrete examples and real experiences.
-
New styles, new consumers: fresher wines, lower in alcohol, with greater aromatic precision, designed for curious, informed, and demanding consumers.
Tastings that teach
One of the main attractions of the BWW is its technical tastings. It is not just about tasting great wines but understanding why they are the way they are, guided by expert speakers who lead each session with knowledge and experience.
For a wine school like Wine Courses Barcelona, this approach is fundamental. Tasting ceases to be merely an exercise in enjoyment and becomes a true tool for analysis and learning. Exactly the kind of experience we aim to provide our students: learning to taste with discernment, context, and depth.
A meeting point between industry and education
Another major value of the BWW is networking. Professionals from sommeliers, hospitality, distribution, and wine communication share space with students, educators, and schools. This exchange of perspectives greatly enriches learning, connecting theory with market reality.
For us, attending BWW 2026 means hearing firsthand from those making decisions in the vineyard and winery and bringing that living, up-to-date knowledge into our training programs.
Barcelona, the wine capital for a few days
The setting also adds to the experience. Barcelona brings a special energy to the fair, where culture and gastronomy go hand in hand with wine. During those days, the city becomes a showcase for contemporary Spanish wine—diverse and constantly evolving.
Leaving the fair to continue conversations in wine bars, restaurants, or parallel tastings is all part of the experience. Wine is even more enjoyable when shared, and events like this are ideal for reconnecting with friends and colleagues in the sector.
As a wine school, we hope to take away from this new edition of BWW ideas, contacts, memorable wines, and, above all, confirmation that wine education is more necessary than ever. The sector moves fast and needs well-prepared professionals with technical knowledge, sensitivity, and a critical, up-to-date vision.
We look forward to meeting—or reconnecting with—you in the halls of this great event that will take place from the 2nd to the 4th of February.
Cheers! 🍷
