The Wine and Spirit Education Trust‘s Wine Education Week will be held this year between 9th-15th September. This is a worldwide event encompassing 450 events in 45 countries, all aiming to spread the vinous love to our local oenophiles. The WSET have been educating professionals and enthusiasts since 1969. Their mission is to provide accessible, best-in-class education and qualifications to inspire and empower their students to reach their goals. Qualifications range from the Level 1 Award, teaching basic knowledge of wine and wine service; to Level 4 Diploma, an intensive two year course combining detailed wine knowledge, commercial influence and technical expertise.
If a two year Diploma sounds daunting, Wine Education Week provides an opportunity to dip your toes in the water and see if you’d like to dive in! Wine Courses Barcelona will be running two events at Salut Wine Studio in Born. These are short, fun and informal sessions and will be taught by Sharon Grundy, our head wine educator. Melissa Leighty, a fellow WCB educator, will also be on hand to answer any questions. Finding the Perfect Match, Monday 9th Sept
The Wine & Spirit Education Trust’s practical approach to food and wine pairing can be applied to any menu and any wine list. In this session, you’ll examine how the main flavours in food – acidity, saltiness and sweetness – affect how a wine is perceived.

Vine to Glass, Tuesday 10th Sept
Want to know more about wine but don’t know where to start? This introductory tasting provides you with the necessary skills to taste wines like a true professional – from appearance to palate. You’ll learn how wine is made and what makes one different from another, both in the vineyard and the winery.
